Tornadoes January 2011

The tornado season for 2011 may prove to be a dangerous one. With the extensive snow received and even more predicted, the cold air hitting the warm air can produce massive tornadoes. This may be a good time to consider adding a safe room to your home.

Tornado Alley Look Out!

The first 3 hours of the new year of 2011 had the misfortune of experiencing seven tornadoes in Mississippi.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said 39 homes and 40 businesses were destroyed or seriously damaged by the storms.

The National Weather Service in Jackson reported at least three people hurt and extensive structural damage after storms tore through the state on Friday afternoon. No one was killed in the January 2011 Tornadoes in Jackson Mississippi.

“It looks like a rip-roaring start to the New Year,” said Ed Agre, a senior forecaster at the National Weather Service in Jackson, Misssissippi.

Forecasters at the Jackson National Weather Service’s building escaped to a safe room – tornado storm shelter when winds got up to 60 miles per hour.

Having tornadoes on the first day of the new year of 2011 may be an ominous warning of things to come.
