IT IS something that has become far too common in Biloela.

After two house fires in the last month and another only six months earlier, Biloela firefighters have decided now is the perfect time to remind residents about fire safety in the home.

The Biloela Fire Brigade manned a display at Biloela Shoppingworld last weekend.

“It’s that time of year again where our homes are at higher risk,” Captain Gary Dobbs said.

The team spoke to residents about how to keep the home fire safe, keeping smoke alarms maintained and having an escape plan.

“We spoke to people about how to place your heater so it is safe and the types of heaters that are safest to use,” Capt Dobbs said.

The brigade encouraged people to book a free safehome visit.

During the visits firefighters are on hand to help people recognise fire and safety hazards in and around the home.

The team also thanked Hastings Deering for their donation of 17 new helmet lights, totalling $1000.
