ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 22, 2012 — The highest safety award any organization can achieve globally
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Today, the National Safety Council presented its 2012 Robert W. Campbell Award to Firmenich, at the Opening Session of its Congress Expo, the world’s largest annual gathering of safety and health professionals. This award is presented annually to organizations that integrate environmental, health and safety (EHS) management with business operations as a cornerstone of corporate success.
“I am deeply honored that Firmenich has been named the recipient of the 2012 Robert W. Campbell Award,” said the CEO of the organization Patrick Firmenich. “We challenge ourselves every day to lead by example in EHS, and I am convinced that companies who hold EHS as a visible core value become better companies.”
The Campbell Award selection process involves a comprehensive evaluation of an organization’s EHS management system and the impact it has on the bottom line. Promoted by a network of 21 international partners, the Campbell Award recognizes world-class organizations around the globe. Firmenich will be deeply involved in the Award’s ongoing educational efforts, including the development of a case study sharing its success and best practices for use by top business and engineering schools.
“Throughout the Campbell Award process, Firmenich demonstrated a mature and multi-faceted approach to EHS management,” said Janet Froetscher, National Safety Council president and CEO. “As a Swiss family-owned business with a global presence, Firmenich has proven that a reliance on values and a sense of responsibility ensures lasting success. We applaud Firmenich for its deep and heartfelt commitment to EHS in the pursuit of its long term vision of business excellence.”
As a natural progression of the Award, this year, NSC has launched the Campbell Institute, where leading organizations such as Campbell Award winners can share their collective experience and knowledge to enable the creation of better, safer workplaces and communities worldwide. The National Safety Council is proud to welcome Firmenich as one of the charter members of the Campbell Institute.
The Campbell Award is underwritten by the ExxonMobil Foundation and named for Robert W. Campbell, a safety pioneer and the first president of the National Safety Council. Visit CampbellAward.org for more information.
